Geriatricians are doctors who specialise in the care of older people, especially those with several health conditions at once. Common reasons to see one are repeated falls, memory loss, frailty, a long list of medicines, and a loss of independence. Most families start with a general physician, who may refer them. Sudden confusion in an older person needs urgent medical care the same day.
