Neurologists treat conditions of the brain, spinal cord and nerves, including stroke, epilepsy, migraine, Parkinson’s disease and nerve damage. Common reasons to see one are frequent or changing headaches, fits, numbness, tremor and memory problems. Most people are referred by a general physician, who checks common causes first. Sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, or slurred speech, is an emergency: call 112 or 108.
